This work presents the study and the development of a real-time
distributed simulation of an Attitude and Orbit Control System
(AOCS) for the Multi-Mission Platform (MMP) in its Nominal Mode of
Operation by using the High Level Architecture (HLA). The MMP is a
platform being developed at the National Institute of Space
Research (INPE) following a modern paradigm of artificial
satellite development that proposes the development of a basic
platform which is used in several missions. The HLA is a
general-purpose architecture for simulation reuse and
interoperability. This architecture was developed under the
leadership of the Defense Modeling and Simulation Office (DMSO) to
support reuse and interoperability across the large numbers of
different types of simulations developed and maintained by the
Department of Defense (DoD) of USA. To accomplish the goals of
this work, the following activities were performed: (1) selection
of the synchronisation schema and the data exchange method more
suitable for the proposed application; (2) development of a
SystemBuild/HLA interface; (3) adaptation of an existing
stand-alone simulation to the HLA; (4) simulation in a single
computer without and with real-time constraints; (5) simulation in
two computers without and with real-time constraints and (6)
validation of the obtained results by comparing them with the
results of the stand-alone simulation. The results show that the
goals of this work have been reached and that the HLA is
applicable to real-time distributed simulations of space systems,
especially of artificial satellite AOCS.",
